Looking back over the last few years of the NEBOSH Certificate, the Certificate is a significantly more substantial qualification than it used to be, not only in terms of the subject area covered (quite a lot of new material has been introduced in recent years, very little appears to have been discarded) but also in terms of the level of understanding required from the student.
Overall, the syllabus is excellent, it really does provide a very good introduction to successful health and safety management and it achieves this without falling into the trap of concentrating on certain types of workplace to the exclusion of others.
The questions asked by the examiners remain well-balanced with very few questions which might be considered a bit outside the syllabus.
It should also be mentioned that NEBOSH now effectively require the Certificate as an entry requirement for the Diploma.
The attached sheets were prepared by our helpful colleagues at Thames Valley University in Ealing and summarise the subject areas covered by recent examination questions.

The revision questions should be attempted as you come to the end of your study of each element: NGC1/1, NGC1/2 ... NGC2/8. The link to these revision questions is below. These sixteen sets of questions are really intended as 'key-point' revision; 'real' questions in the form of NEBOSH past papers should be tackled towards the end of your studies; press the other link below if you want to read about the manner in which you should go about tackling past papers and submitting them for comment and ‘marking’.

The last year or so has been a quiet period both in terms of legislative changes and the syllabus content. The lull before the storm perhaps, since NEBOSH are proposing substantial syllabus changes late this year or early next. Another change, and very welcome, is that NEBOSH will soon require that the practical NGC3 must be conducted at the candidate’s place of work or some arranged equivalent for those not in work.
